Apollo Crews surprised everybody when he appeared on last night’s NXT 2.0. NXT Champion Bron Breakker was in the ring looking for his next challenger. Crews made his way to the ring to confront Breakker and shook hands with the champ.

Many fans have been wondering whether the move will be on a full-time basis. Mike Johnson of PW Insider has reported that Apollo Crews is listed on the NXT roster officially. Crews is joined by Commander Azeez, who did not appear on last night’s broadcast.

Apollo Crews came into WWE via NXT during a time when he was a hot commodity on the independent circuit. He spent two years in the developmental brand, debuting at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. Crews went on to have a memorable feud with Baron Corbin before being called up to the main roster.

The main roster has not been very kind to Apollo Crews. Upon his initial callup, he was a part of the Titus Worldwide faction. Eventually, he became the United States and Intercontinental Champion, but the main event continued to elude him. Most recently, he portrayed Nigerian prince.

During his appearance on NXT, there was no sign of the gimmick. Crews was dressed in street clothes and spoke without an accent. It appears WWE is setting up something down the line with Bron Breakker.

Time will tell if another stint in NXT helps re-establish Apollo Crews. He has an enormous amount of talent and athleticism. Perhaps the colorful brand is where he finally brings it all together.
