Cody Rhodes earned a ton of respect for his match at last night’s WWE Hell in a Cell premium live event. Cody was bruised on his right side after suffering torn pectoral muscle earlier in the week. Rhodes soldiered on to a match with Seth Rollins that may have been one of the gutsiest performances in recent wrestling history.

Cody and Seth worked around the arm, telling a compelling story throughout the match. Many fans wondered what WWE was thinking by allowing Rhodes to work the bout. Ultimately, the decision came down to Cody Rhodes himself.

Sean Sapp discussed the shocking main event behind Fightful’s paywall. It was noted that many backstage questioned whether Cody Rhodes should have been allowed to compete. Cody insisted on going out for the match.

“The noticeable injury added to the story between he and Seth Rollins, with many questioning whether or not he should have been able to wrestle. After insisting, Cody was able to compete in the Hell in a Cell main event, and after, told the Allstate Arena audience that he was going to address the injury on Monday. He is currently scheduled for WWE Raw.”

Some fans have called Cody Rhodes insane for working through what must have been incredible pain. Rhodes cut promo after the show went off the air saying that he would have done the same thing ten times out of ten. Cody thanked the fans for believing in him.

The heroic effort may have saved the show. What looked on paper like a standard premium live event will now be remembered for a long time to come. It’s all because Cody Rhodes insisted on performing for the fans.
