AEW Clarifies How They Will Determine Match For Interim World Title At ‘Forbidden Door’

AEW was in a tricky situation when CM Punk revealed that he is injured and in need of surgery. Punk isn’t expected to be out of action for long, because he is still World Champion. That being said an Interim Champion will still need to carry the title.

It was previously revealed during Rampage that Dynamite next week will open with a battle royal match. The winner of that match will face Jon Moxley to determine who gets to battle for the title at Forbidden Door.

AEW made things clear in regards to the other competitor in that Forbidden Door match. Hiroshi Tanahashi will take on Hirooki Goto at Dominion in an eliminator match. The winner of that match will go on to Forbidden Door.

It is unclear who will be in the battle royal match, but some big names should be expected. Jon Moxley will not be in that match since he is the current #1 contender.

CM Punk will then take on whoever is Interim Champion whenever he comes back. We’ll just have to see how everything pans out in this situation, because it is certainly unconventional.
