WWE faced difficult situation when their Women’s Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Naomi, walked out. They were set to enter into singles programs with title matches at Hell in a Cell, but The Boss and The Glow walked out instead, leaving their stories and titles behind.

It was previously reported that some people in WWE didn’t want to vacate the women’s titles. Vince McMahon still made the call to strip Banks and Naomi of their titles and suspend them indefinitely.

Dave Meltzer made comment on Wrestling Observer Radio that the tournament to decide new Women’s Tag Team Champions is “dead.” We have learned that is not the case.

Ringside News has learned from a tenured member of the creative team that the tournament is not dead. We were told that, “it just hasn’t been discussed with Meltzer by anyone who knows the plans.”

Only time will tell how long it takes for WWE to get this tournament together on television. The fact is that the company has a future plan for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
