Malcolm Bivens was one of many who were released from their WWE NXT contract earlier this year.  This came as a shock to many as fans felt he still had a lot to accomplish in NXT. WWE also assumed he was going to AEW.

WWE offered Bivens a new deal in February but he did not sign it. He opted to not accept a main roster deal and stayed in NXT until he was finally let go by the company.

Bivens used to manage Diamond Mine in NXT but that is not a thing of the past. He made his debut in AEW during Double Or Nothing, as he was introduced as Stokely Hathaway.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE assumed that Stokeley Hathaway was going to AEW when he decided to reject a main roster contract.

The WWE people on the day he was fired, it came out he wouldn’t sign a new contract. They were all basically saying he was going to AEW. If you turn downthe main roster, the assumption is you want to go to AEW.

Stokely is now the manager of the Baddie Section and it will be interesting to see how he will fare in AEW. Odds are, the Baddie Section will find some success under Stokely’s tutelage.
