John Laurinaitis has a lot of pull backstage in WWE. He also has sway with talent along with executives, and he is responsible for a lot of things as an unsung her in many ways.

Charlie Haas opened up about how John Laurinaitis was responsible for his sudden WWE transformation. Haas is mostly known for his tag team partnership with Shelton Benjamin. Back in 2008, he underwent a drastic transformation when he started impersonating other superstars. The most famous ones include Beth Phoenix and Hulk Hogan.

However, while speaking to Inside the Ropes’ Liam Alexander Stewart, Haas revealed that John likely gave him the character to make him quit.

“They were trying to get me out of WWE. When they gave me the character gimmick… John Laurinaitis, Johnny Ace did that… I wasn’t gonna pout about it, ‘Oh, this is bullsh*t.’ I did it to the best of my ability. I tried to honor these icons, which they were.”

Haas added, “If I sign it as The GlamaHaas or Haas Hogan or Stone Cold Steve Haastin, those things are worth a lot. I mean, you’re talking 50 to 70 bucks an autograph if I sign it that way. So I’m like, ‘All right, so who’s laughing at what?’ I think it was their way of trying to get me out, but it is what it is.”

Laurinaitis’ attempt was obviously unsuccessful. Haas is not exactly proud of his impersonation gimmicks with fond memories but his multiple characters left fans awestruck. Haas continues to make money even now by signing autographs as the superstars he impersonated.
