Wardlow has seen a meteoric ascent in the AEW ranks. Once simply a lackey for MJF, the Cleveland native has become one of the most popular singles stars in Tony Khan’s promotion. At Double or Nothing on Sunday, Wardlow will try to break free of his contract with MJF and set a course for superstardom.

MJF has, as usual, placed several roadblocks along the way. Wardlow has endured matches against Shawn Spears and W. Morrissey. The big man faced ten lashes with a belt. Tonight, he must survive a steel cage match with Spears with MJF as the special guest referee.

As long as Wardlow can keep his hands off his rival in tonight’s match, he will finally get his long-awaited bout with MJF on Sunday. Wardlow recently spoke to Shak Wrestling about the upcoming grudge match. He said he intends to set a world record for powerbombs in the match.

“There will be a world record set. I am looking to powerbomb him until I physically cannot anymore.”

The storyline of Wardlow’s separation from MJF has been years in the making. Even while feuding with CM Punk, many considered Wardlow the more intriguing angle. Now, it will all come to a head in Las Vegas.

We will have to wait and see if Wardlow can deliver on his promise. The current world record for powerbombs is unlikely to ever be known. Wardlow is hoping to deliver so many that it leaves zero doubt.
