WWE is hoping to get a major pop for Drew McIntyre when they present the Clash at the Castle premium live event. The huge stadium show will take place in Cardiff, Wales. McIntyre is expected to take on Roman Reigns in the main event.

During WWE’s April tour of the UK, Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns wrestled in London. The crowd was said to have had the exact opposite reaction to what one would expect. The WWE Universe was cheering for Reigns.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the possibility. Even if Roman Reigns is cheered against Drew, it shouldn’t matter too much. The local draw of a UK star still applies, even if fans prefer the champion.

“Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns, as of right now, is September 3rd. The other two, you know, it was Riddle July 2, Orton July 30, but that’s far from etched in stone. McIntyre is because of Cardiff.

The funny thing about that is, I know people in the UK who believe that Roman Reigns is getting cheered over McIntyre because they did, what was it? I think they did a match in London where Roman Reigns got cheered over McIntyre. Which, whatever, it really doesn’t matter because it’s still about the local draw and everything like that.”

There is still a chance that Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre have different opponents for Clash at the Castle. If Tyson Fury and WWE make deal before the event, he will likely be the opponent for Drew McIntyre. Roman Reigns would then have to work with someone else.

Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre is the scheduled main event for the time being. Despite McIntyre being the local hero, Roman Reigns may end up being the fan-favorite. Time will tell if that turns out to be the case.
