The Undertaker gave a memorable and emotional speech as he was inducted into this year’s class of the WWE Hall of Fame. Fans had been waiting for years to see the man from Death Valley take his spot among the immortals. Many were surprised that Taker left a few key names out when he accepted the honor.
Over a career spanning multiple decades, The Undertaker had many bitter in-ring rivalries. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kane, The Rock, and several other legendary names waged war with him over the years. Perhaps his most memorable foe was Mick Foley.
Foley recently appeared on the “In the Kliq” podcast where he discussed not being mentioned by The Undertaker during his HOF speech. The Hardcore Legend pointed out that he wasn’t the only name left off. Mick Foley wasn’t bothered by the exclusion at all.
“Well, listen, I forgot to mention my wife during my speech, so I’m not one to lecture anybody about who they should and should not include in their speech. I was not there for those formative years.
His was more about friendship and support. We had a great rivalry, but he didn’t mention Rock or Austin. So, if I’m not hurt, no one can be hurt on behalf of me.”
The Undertaker may not have mentioned Mick Foley during his speech, but they shared one of the most iconic moments in WWE history. At the 1998 King of the Ring, Taker famously threw Foley from the top of the Hell in a Cell cage through the commentary table. Taker may not have brought it up at the HOF, but that moment and that rivalry will forever be repeated on just about every WWE broadcast.
