Gimmick matches are a major part of the pro wrestling lore. They are used to further or put an end to feuds and storylines. It appears that a gimmick match from the past is reappearing in WWE.

F4Wonline reports that Thursday night’s NXT UK tapings, it was announced that Eddie Dennis will square off against Wild Boar in a Dog Collar match. WWE have yet to announce the date for the match to take place.

The last Dog Collar match happened on WWE TV 25 years ago when Vader took on the British Bulldog on an episode of RAW from 1997. Vader won the match after touching all turnbuckles.

The first Dog Collar match that made it to WWE TV happened between JunkYard Dog and Magnificent Muraco from the Philadelphia Spectrum in July 1986. JYD won the match after Muraco left the ring.
