Malcolm Bivens was one of many who were released from their WWE NXT contract today. However, it seems he never intended to stay with the company for long.

According toFightful, Malcolm Bivens, whose real name is Stokely Hathaway, had no plans of re-signing with WWE. He was offered a new deal in February but didn’t sign it. He only re-signed last year because of the Diamond Mine.

“We’re told that Malcolm Bivens, now again Stokely Hathaway, had made it abundantly clear that he didn’t plan on re-signing. He’d also done this last year, but was re-signed as a result of the pitch of the Diamond Mine stable after not being used on TV for two years. Hathaway was offered a new deal in February, but informed WWE that he wouldn’t be signing it.”

Bivens had potential but we never got to see it on NXT television. His next move remains unknown and we don’t know where he will end up. It won’t be surprising if AEW signs him but Tony Khan’s promotion already has a bloated roster.
