Sami Zayn has been the ultimate utility man for Vince McMahon in WWE. When Vince needed someone to safely work comedy match with a celebrity, Sami was the guy. Zayn has also been trusted as champion and has even been given some level of creative freedom above other WWE superstars.

WWE places a lot of trust in Sami Zayn. One thing that Mr. McMahon wasn’t so keen on was the way Sami cut promos. Zayn tried to be intense when he had the mic, but Vince didn’t think it was working.

During his recent interview with Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Sami Zayn talked about the advice Vince McMahon gave him to improve his promos. McMahon brought up the Happy Corbin character as an example. The boss thought Sami needed to be more obnoxious.

“Another thing Vince said in that same talk he was like, ‘You’re yelling at me and when you yell at me I just check out,’ which I get, and he used Baron Corbin or someone as an example and he was like. ‘Look at Baron Corbin. He used to be tough and talked like whatever but that’s not what took him to the next level. It was being happy and laughing that’s just so obnoxious that you just want to punch him in the face.’

I think he genuinely sees me as an obnoxious human being already, really I think he does. So he’s like ‘That’s where your character is. That’s where your heat is.”

Sami Zayn took McMahon’s advice. His new approach to promos worked wonders in the feud with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville. We will have to wait and see what develops next for Sami in WWE.
