Big Cass (known in Impact as W Morrissey) suffered public seizure in 2018 while wrestling in the former ECW Arena. The big man was working for Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore at the famed bingo hall at the time. Morrissey eventually told the story of how alcohol withdrawals led to the scary moment.

After he recovered from the seizure, Cass went to rehab. It was then that he realized he had a serious problem with alcohol. Just four years later, W Morrissey is returning to the scene where his entire life changed.

Tonight’s episode of Impact takes place at the 2300 Arena. Morrissey shared a tweet today expressing his gratitude for having a second chance. The former WWE superstar will walk in with a new appreciation for the little things in life.

“In December of 2018, I publicly suffered a seizure from alcohol withdrawal in the 2300 Arena. Tonight, I will stand in that same building on #IMPACTonAXSTV as a new man with a new appreciation for life & all its blessings. Thank you. Everyone”

Substance abuse has always been a widespread problem in pro wrestling. Life on the road takes its toll, and wrestlers are more apt to do something to take the edge off when they don’t have time to recover from all the bumps and bruises. Jon Moxley recently had a similar experience and has been on fire since starting his recovery.

It is always good news to hear that someone has taken positive steps to help their situation. Just years ago, Morrissey was having major problems. Now he is happy to step back into the same building where it could’ve slipped away and get a do-over.
