Wendy Choo signed with WWE in 2019. She underwent numerous character changes before landing the current “Wendy Choo” gimmick. It looks like Wendy is here to stay with WWE for the foreseeable future as she signed a new deal with the company.

According to Fightful Select, Wendy signed a contract extension with the company in 2021. WWE offered her a new deal while she was recovering from a fractured lateral malleolus. Wendy was injured during an NXT house show in July 2019 and spent the next two years rehabilitating.

Wendy Choo is locked down. The former Mei Ying and Karen Q, Wendy Choo signed an extension with WWE in 2021, we’re told. Following her performance in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, Fightful was contacted by a higher up in WWE, who noted that the company “locked her down with a new deal last year,” although the length of the contract was not revealed.

Fightful learned that Choo was offered a new deal well before returning to WWE television as a member of Tian Sha, and the deal wasn’t signed until much later. The Mei Ying gimmick and the Tian Sha character were said to have been personal favorites of Triple H and had the backing of Shawn Michaels.

However, when the former fell out of power in NXT an experienced health issues, the gimmick was scrapped without explanation. The higher up that we spoke to said that it was evident that Choo would excel when provided the right opportunity, and they’re happy with her performance.

Wendy participated in the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic alongside Dakota Kai. They lost the tournament finals to Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray. Wendy attempted to cause distraction for NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction during last week’s NXT 2.0 but remained unsuccessful.
