Road Dogg and Billy Gunn were one of the iconic tag teams of WWE’s attitude era. The New Age Outlaws were the company’s ultimate heaters, drawing huge crowd reactions with their pre-match fanfare. As members of D-Generation X, they hold a significant spot in the company’s history.

Fans generally assume that tag team partners get along great behind the scenes. That is not always the case. Even when they were champions, the New Age Outlaws weren’t always in sync.

Road Dogg talked about his relationship with Billy Gunn on the latest “Oh… You Didn’t Know” podcast. The former WWE superstar and producer said things weren’t nearly as rosy as fans would like to think. The two often clashed in their private lives.

“Billy and I didn’t always see eye to eye, and sometimes we were even tag champions when that occurred. We started to get to know each other and talk to each other more. I still wouldn’t say we hung out with each other. Two totally different human beings.

It’s a lifestyle for him to go to the gym.”

Road Dogg went on to point out that as the two grew as people, their relationship has been much better. The two even sobriety together. The team has even reunited from time to time. They are now very close friends. It wasn’t always that way for the Outlaws, but their story ultimately had a happy ending.
