WWE is making another decision to switch up someone’s name as they make their main roster debut. This time it will likely draw lot of eye rolling.

According to Fightful Marcel Barthel is going to the main roster. He will not keep that name, and the company has a new idea for him. He is currently being listed internally as “Ludwig Klaus.”

The working name for Marcel Barthel on the main roster was to be “Ludwig” or the version “Ludvig.” This comes a few months after Walter’s name was changed to Gunther. Some other previous NXT name changes have included Pete Dunne to Butch, Mia Yim to Reckoning, Dijakovic to T-Bar, Piper Niven to Doudrop, and the plan for Chelsea Green was to be named Victorious before she was injured.

UPDATE: Internally, we’re told he’s listed as Ludwig Klaus, and that some other versions of it have been tossed around.

Fabian Aichner is not planned for this act, which is very interesting. We’ll have to see how WWE ends up booking this situation, but Gunther and Ludwig are apparently on their way to SmackDown.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
