Imperium Might Have Language Barrier Issues On WWE Main Roster

Imperium is villainous professional wrestling stable in WWE’s NXT consisting of Gunther, Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner. The stable also formerly included Alexander Wolfe, who was kicked out on 2021 after his loyalty came into question. It seems Barthel and Aichner’s main roster call came into question recently.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer recently discussed whether Barthel is qualified to be up in the main roster. He said that although Barthel has got good physique, he does not have the charisma to be a star. Added to that, Barthel cannot speak English fluently which is a major disadvantage.

He’s not getting anywhere on the main roster. He’s great but it’s just not gonna happen. For whatever reason they bring him up because they have good bodies and Barthel is tall. The reality is that, you know, even with that, Barthel is not gonna get anywhere in the main roster. He’s great but it’s just not gonna happen. I mean he’s just, I would say as a single, he does not have the charisma to be a star plus they will look at his, you know, not being fluent in English to that degree that they, like as a Dutchman, he’ll go nowhere. And Aichner, who’s strong and good and blablabla, I just think he would end up being a guy on the main roster. But as a team, those guys can be Tag Team Champions easy.

Meltzer went ahead to say that Aichner might be able to get up on the main roster but he’ll just end up being just “a guy on the main roster.” However, if Barthel and Aichner join forces to be duo, they can easily bag the Tag Team Championship. WWE NXT UK provided a great home for all three of them as featured performers.

Barthel is a German native; he wrestled in his nation before coming to WWE. Walter/Gunther also wrestled in German-based promotion wXw like Barthel before heading to WWE. We’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for the Imperium.
