Randy Orton has seen a lot in his career and a generational change in WWE is happening in front of his eyes. He recently made comment about how they don’t really protect each other in NXT, and Austin Theory certainly heard what he had to say.

While speaking to Wrestling Inc, Austin Theory opened up a bit about Randy Orton’s comments. He does not think that Orton’s remarks were directly targeted at anyone, but The Viper is certainly someone who knows what he’s talking about.

“So, Randy Orton is somebody that has a huge legacy here, he’s well respected. He knows what he’s doing, he knows what he’s talking about. I don’t personally think that’s directed to everyone,” he said. “There’s reasons for him saying that, and he has a right to his word. I personally have a great relationship with Randy.

“He is somebody that, if you want advice, or you want him to watch something, he will take a look at it, he will give you good advice, he won’t sugarcoat it. To me, it’s one of those things that you hear about, but you’ve got to know where it’s coming from.”

Austin Theory is relatively new to the WWE main roster, especially when compared to Orton. So, it makes total sense that he wouldn’t want to cause any problems by speaking out against what Orton said even if he disagreed. We’ll have to see what’s in the future. With the number of main roster talent who sometimes find their way to NXT, it’s not impossible to imagine that Orton will find his way to NXT for a match eventually.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
