Days before his much anticipated debut, Cody did an exclusive interview with Variety. The publication posted the interview to their website following Cody’s grand return to the WWE.

Cody revealed during the interview, he now owns the WWWF Championship Belt his father, the late great Dusty Rhodes, and Superstar Billy Graham fought over inside Madison Square Garden in 1977.

“… I’m excited to bring the WWWF championship belt that I acquired a few months ago, the one that Superstar and Dusty fought over. I’m excited to carry that in my bag.”

When asked who handed him the prestigious strap, Cody said it was Dan Lambert, a longtime friend currently working for Cody’s former employer Tony Khan in All Elite Wrestling.

“Believe it or not — I bet you he doesn’t want me to say his name, but it’s funny. Dan Lambert. He handed it to me for no money and said “I thought it should belong to you.”

Dusty may not have won the title, but his son having the belt is just too sweet. Life indeed comes full circle. We’ll have to wait and see if Cody Rhodes make it to the top in the WWE.
