During the segment, Sheamus introduced the newcomer as “Butch” and said he goes way back with him. Butch has aligned with “The Celtic White” and Ridge Holland, his former ally on WWE NXT.

Butch helped Sheamus get the pin on Kofi Kingston by causing distraction at ringside. He then attacked Kingston after the match as Big E was being checked on by WWE personnel.

The name transition of Pete Dune as he officially became part of the main roster under new name “Butch” on Friday Night SmackDown has caused quite a mixed reaction from fans on social media. One twitter user noted, “The only way I can even begin to look past this is if they make Pete Dunne changed his name to Butch because he’s in witness protection from Tony D’Angelo’s mob family.”

Vince turning Pete Dunne into Butch is one of his greatest creations,” said another fan on Twitter. “I leave the living to make myself a drink and talk to my daughter for bit, I return to my LR and I see Pete Dunne stomping BigE and I’m like “oh cool, Pete is on #smackdown ” and I hear Cole screaming something about Butch and he’s calling Pete Butch. And I’m like [confused gif],” wrote fan on Twitter.
