Cody Rhodes allowed his AEW contract to expire and the company lost an Executive Vice President. Now fans are waiting for his next move.
WWE will be in Jacksonville, Florida for this Monday’s episode of RAW. It was previously reported that the company would like to bring Cody Rhodes back at that time. Rhodes’ return taking place in Jacksonville would have obvious connotations given that AEW considers Jacksonville their home.
As of this writing, Cody Rhodes’ name is still off the WrestleMania chart and all documentation. He was previously listed as Seth Rollins’ opponent.
Ringside News asked around about this situation. A tenured member of the creative team revealed that they were told, “Cody will do what Cody chooses is best for his family. We hope he’s happy in whatever he does, wherever he lands.”
We will have to see what happens. Obviously, WWE would like to have The American Nightmare return, because they had WrestleMania plans for him. The big hang up seems to have occured somewhere in the final steps of the process. Cody Rhodes’ WWE return is very plausible at this point, but the ball is in his court.
Keep checking back with Ringside News as we continue monitoring this ongoing situation.
