Matt Cardona is a prime example of how wrestlers can be successful outside WWE’s umbrella. While Cardona had a decent run in the multi-billion dollar conglomerate, it was the indie scene that spawned the success he’s enjoying today.

The 36-year-old recently added another title to his already impressive collection by becoming the New York Wrestling Connection Champion. Cardona now holds six belts across various wrestling promotions.

Cardona took to Twitter to brag about his accomplishments, saying how his bag is getting heavy due to carrying multiple championship belts. A photo of Cardona’s accolades accompanied the caption.

The former Zack Ryder will defend his NWA Worlds Heavyweight title against former champion Nick Aldis at Crockett Cup next month. The historic event will take place at The Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee.

Cardona captured the prestigious title from Trevor Murdoch earlier this month. The title changed hands at an NWA event in Oak Grove, Kentucky. Cardona was quickly confronted by Aldis following his shocking victory over Murdoch.
