Lita is a trailblazer for female performers in the wrestling world. The former WWE Women’s Champion carved out a successful path for herself at a time when women were seen as mere attractions in the company.

The 46-year-old recently sat down with Ring The Belle to promote her match with RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Saudi Arabia.

Lita has been critical of WWE’s relationship with the kingdom in the past, but the stories she heard from female performers who performed there made her rethink her views.

“So I will say I was outspoken on the early relationship between WWE and Saudi. ‘Oh, they say they want women to wrestle over there, but like, I don’t know if I believe it. There’s no women on this card.’

“There’s women on the card [now] — and I’ve talked to the women personally that have been over there. And they’re like, ‘It’s unbelievable. There are women crying, never thinking they would get to see two women be so strong in the ring.

“They’re like, ‘It’s really powerful. You’re gonna enjoy that.’ And so, sure, do they have a long way to go? Do we as a society have a long way to go? Absolutely, but you’ve got to take the opportunities when they’re there.”

Lita returned to the WWE ring when she appeared as entrant number 26 at the 2022 Royal Rumble PPV event. Though she was eliminated by SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Lita showed up on RAW to challenge Lynch for her title.
