Kurt Angle almost made his return to WWE television recently. The Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist was considered for a short program leading up to WrestleMania 38. Angle himself said the plans were set in stone.

Ringside News exclusively reported that there were no concrete plans for Kurt Angle in WWE. There were pitches, but Kurt was never scheduled for a WrestleMania storyline. The details of the potential storyline have now been revealed.

Fightful Select has reported that Kurt Angle was considered for inclusion in the story between RKBro and Alpha Academy. The academic challenge segments would have somehow included the Olympic hero. There was also talk about including him as a guest referee at Elimination Chamber.

“Fightful has learned that Angle was originally figured in to the RKBro vs. Alpha Academy plans. There were pitches that the academic challenge would even be the “Three Is Challenge,” playing off of Angle’s wrestling days. There were also discussions regarding Angle serving as a special guest referee in Saudi Arabia at the Elimination Chamber event.”

Kurt Angle has a long history with WWE. Angle got his start in professional wrestling there and was an instant phenom. It’s no surprise that WWE would at least consider bringing in one of their most popular stars for a short run.

For now, there are no plans for Kurt Angle to appear on WWE television. That can always change as WWE gears up for WrestleMania. The WWE Universe shouldn’t get their hopes up too much, though.
