Roman Reigns Gets Massive Props For Brilliant Heel Work At WWE Royal Rumble

The drastic change in character for Roman Reigns over the years has been well documented. He went from being an utterly dull babyface to one of the most compelling heels in WWE. He also isn’t stranger when it comes to accolades in the company.

Roman Reigns was an eyesore for many when he was a babyface and fans and pro wrestlers alike agreed with this notion. This is in spite of the fact that Reigns competed in high profile matches against the very best.

Roman Reigns defended his WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble event. Throughout the match, Seth Rollins received a lot of cheers while Roman Reigns only got loud boos.

While speaking with Busted Open Radio, Monday Night RAW commentator Jimmy Smith talked about Roman Reigns’ heel work at the Royal Rumble event. Smith gave Reigns massive props for getting so much heat during the match.

“He’s a genius, I will say this a million times over. The heat that Roman Reigns got, they love his work, will he be cheered or will he be booed? You never know with Roman Reigns because the fans respect him so much. He got booed in the Seth Rollins match, deafeningly booed, and he played the crowd so well.

He went after him and pounded his chest, they booed more. It was brilliant. The reactions, not only that he was able to get, but elicit. There’s a difference, some people can get a reaction, other people elicit a reaction. He got one, and then he poured gasoline on it and got more. It was brilliant stuff. The loudest reaction I heard was the heel work of Roman Reigns, it was absolutely brilliant.”

WWE has huge plans for Roman Reigns’ and Brock Lesnar’s feud that will culminate in WrestleMania 38 this year. We will have to wait and see how their feud will be booked in the coming months.
