Beth Phoenix made a memorable comeback to WWE when she finally became an on-screen team with her husband, Edge. The couple took on The Miz and Maryse in a grudge match at this weekend’s WWE Royal Rumble that saw the Glamazon and the Rated R Superstar get revenge on their Hollywood counterparts. Beth has her husband to thank for giving her the confidence to step back into the squared circle.

Phoenix had been commentator for NXT just weeks before she arrived to team with Edge at the Royal Rumble. Beth portrayed the confident, strong character with grace and poise. It wasn’t easy for her to reach that point.

After defeating The Miz and Maryse at the Royal Rumble, Beth Phoenix took a moment to reflect on social media. Her marriage gave her the strength and confidence to truly feel like herself. It was love and respect from Edge that made her more like the character she portrayed on television.

“The truth is, I’ve always struggled very hard to love myself. I spent most of my life feeling too big, not pretty enough, not worthy. The character I portrayed in wrestling was everything I wish I was. The Glamazon was powerful, even though inside, I felt so damn weak. Until I met this man. Who has loved me and loved me stubbornly even when I couldn’t figure out what he saw in me.

After 11 years, I can honestly say that real love, long haul love is different than anything in life. There just isn’t any substitute for time and consistent mutual respect. As I walked out last night, I had the realization that something in me has drastically changed. I don’t feel like “less”. Because love is a mirror… you reflect what you get. When I see the look on his face, I feel so loved. And I finally feel like I am worthy of it. Thank you @edgeratedr for building this life with me. The best is still ahead of us!”

The WWE Universe is looking forward to seeing what’s next for Edge and Beth Phoenix. Their on-screen pairing was well-received by fans. Edge doesn’t think the two will work together any time soon. We’ll see if the company will do anything else with them as a couple in the future.
