Riho made her name in the United States by becoming the first ever AEW Women’s Champion. The Japanese star debuted when she was just nine years old. Riho brought a wealth of experience with her to kick start a brand-new division.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Riho found it difficult to get on TV for AEW. In August of 2021, Riho returned full-time for Tony Khan’s company. A recent women’s title loss to Britt Baker at Battle of the Belts was Riho’s most recent match.

It now appears Riho will be taking some more time off. The former champion shared a photo on Twitter that depicted her right arm in a sling. A caption announced that she’d be taking a break.

“I’m taking a rest a little.”

Riho has been one of the more popular female wrestlers in AEW. Her recent challenge for the championship proved that she is still a championship contender. Once she is healed, Riho will be right back in the conversation.

It isn’t known how long Riho is out for. The nature of the injury is also unknown at the moment. AEW fans will have to wait a while as Riho heals up. They’re hoping to see her return soon.
