Jonathan Gresham has been in the news a lot lately. The Ring of Honor World Champion has been placed in the unique situation of carrying on title while the company doesn’t technically exist. ROH has been on a hiatus to reorganize the company. Gresham has been trying to keep the title relevant until Supercard of Honor during WrestleMania week in Dallas.

Gresham was booked for the highly anticipated PWG Battle of Los Angeles tournament this weekend. That will no longer happen. Gresham has tested positive for COVID-19. Ironically, he became the ROH Champion after Bandido was pulled from the ROH Final Battle PPV because of a positive test. The news was announced when he was pulled from the GCW pay-per-view where he was set to defend the title.

The positive test was confirmed by Gresham via Twitter this morning. Jonathan noted that missing the GCW Hammerstein show was also due to the virus. Gresham continues to test positive.

“Unfortunately, I will not be making it to LA tomorrow for BOLA. I recently caught covid, and as a result, I had to miss GCW at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

I am still testing positive as of today and don’t want to put any colleagues/fans in harms way.”

It’s better to be safe than sorry. Still, it’s unfortunate for both Jonathan Gresham and Ring of Honor. Gresham was set to compete at two very high-profile independent events. Positive COVID tests have robbed both he and ROH of that exposure.
