Eva Marie made a surprising return to WWE recently. After splitting with Doudrop, Eva was released from the company. It was short run that may have ended because Eva Marie wanted to focus on her pursuit of acting. The former Total Divas star’s dedication has paid off with a big role.

Eva Marie has landed a starring role in the upcoming action thriller movie, “Phoenix.” Randy Couture will star alongside her. Vladimir Kozlov from WWE (real name Oleg Prudius) and Rashad Evans are also featured in the film. The movie tells the story of a US Army Sergeant serving in Afghanistan who finds out her father has died under mysterious circumstances.

The new role has a lot of star power and it sounds like it will be action-packed. This will be Eva Marie’s biggest role yet. Dave Meltzer reported the news in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“Natalie Eva Marie Coyle (Eva Marie) has landed a starring role in the movie “Phoenix.” Randy Couture will be another lead in the movie, while former WWE wrestler Oleg Prudius (Vladimir Kozlov was his WWE name) and former UFC champion Rashad Evans also have major roles. It’s an action thriller where Coyle plays a U.S. Army Sergeant who is teaching hand-to-hand combat in Afghanistan when she finds out her father, played by Couture, a security specialist, died in Florida and the police say it was a suicide.

She doesn’t buy that her father killed himself and she takes a leave of absence to investigate. She believes her father was actually killed by orders of the Russian mob and you can guess who is the leader of the mob. So she tries to get through the henchmen and get to the character played by Prudius.”

We’ll see how Phoenix does at the box office. Eva Marie is hoping to reinvent herself as a motion picture star. Time will tell if she’s able to follow in the footsteps of John Cena or The Rock and become a mainstream draw.
