Rey Mysterio was recently revealed as the cover star for the highly anticipated WWE2K22 video game. WWE has not released a main-line game since WWE2K20. Several recent releases in the series have been buggy and lacking in quality. 2K is hoping to right those wrongs with the latest edition.

2K held a press event to hype the upcoming release. The company announced that WWE2k22 will come out on March 11, 2022. There was also new trailer released that showed some gameplay footage. Wrestling gamers aren’t completely sold yet.

Rey Mysterio said he was proud to take part in the game. The former world champion is proud to represent lucha libre culture as the cover artist. Rey also features prominently in the new preview video. ESPN covered the event.

I’m looking forward to sharing the stories behind the big moments of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2K Showcase.”

Mysterio is excited for the upcoming release. Fans will get to relive many of the iconic moments of his career in the 2K showcase mode. There are even some bonuses for fans who pre-order.

Special Undertaker bonus content and deluxe and nWo 4 Life editions of the game are both available during the pre-sale. Gamers who pick up one of those will receive the entire product three days early on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. We will have to see if 2K can finally make a WWE game that lives up to the company’s lofty expectations.
