AEW Dynamite made its debut in October 2019 and since then has worked hard to provide an alternate product to what fans see in WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded, but there is still lot of room for improvement. It seems Tony Khan always expected to compete with WWE.

For many, AEW was seen as a breath of fresh air and also that old school nostalgia as the company tried to balance both the modern and old school aspects of pro wrestling. While AEW still has a long way to go as far as being a solid product is concerned, it certainly shows promise so far.

In a recent article from Murtz Jaffer of the Toronto Star, Tony Khan talked about AEW”s current growth. Khan revealed that he always expected to compete with WWE and he finds it gratifying.

“The plan was to put on the best wrestling show on television,” Tony Khan said. “When we started, we had a great roster and a lot of great people but there was more parity in the world of wrestling in terms of where people were signed. Did I expect that we would be competitive with the company [World Wrestling Entertainment] that was number one in many of those metrics? Yeah, I did, and it’s gratifying that we have been.”
