AEW presented their TNT television special, “Battle of the Belts” on January 8, 2022. Tony Khan had high hopes that the show would be a ratings success. Khan is likely thrilled with the ratings for the show, which were just released.

Battle of the Belts drew 704,000 total viewers, according to Wrestlenomics. 355,000 of those fans came from the key 18-49 demographic. That was good enough for the show to garner a .27 rating.

The AEW Rampage that aired the night before in its regularly scheduled time slot drew 588,000 total viewers and a .24 in the key demo. Tony Khan has to consider this a huge win for All Elite Wrestling.

The show was highlighted by several championship matches. Britt Baker finally defeated Riho to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship. Dustin Rhodes filled in for his brother Cody who was forced to quarantine due to a COVID issue. Sammy Guevara became the interim TNT Champion. Ricky Starks also defended the FTW Championship against Matt Sydal.

AEW hopes to make these special events a regular thing moving forward. TNT will likely be pleased with the big number. Saturday nights are notoriously difficult on network ratings.

All Elite Wrestling is hoping to have another stellar run in 2022. The company is completely stacked with a roster of major stars and talented in-ring wrestlers. Battle of the Belts might only be the start for a hugely successful year for AEW.
