Jeff Hardy was released from WWE after he walked out in the middle of house show match. This was a huge surprise and you can check out that footage here. It turns out that the company had some interesting plans for him prior to his exit.

According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE initially planned to move Jeff Hardy to NXT for a bit. He was set to have a run in the developmental brand as well as on the main roster.

It was reported that Hardy was “factored into a lot of plans.” We previously reported that Hardy’s release really threw wrench in creative’s plans. In fact, Matt Riddle was not supposed to be MSK’s Shaman, because that role was supposed to go to Jeff Hardy.

Jeff Hardy was originally planned to be the “Shaman” for MSK. Just days before the reveal was to happen, Hardy was released by the company, and Matt Ridddle had to rush to film content with MSK to make it work.

Riddle was moved into the Shaman role, but “numerous segments” hit the cutting room floor with Jeff Hardy. It was not reported if those segments were ever filmed. We will have to see how Riddle does as Jeff Hardy’s replacement at New Year’s Evil.
