Bray Wyatt developed one of the most intriguing characters WWE fans have seen in a long time. The cult leader persona of a deranged lunatic living in the swamp enjoyed massive success in the company. His Fiend persona redefined what character work in wrestling could be.

WWE rewarded Windham Rotunda for his great in-ring work and ability to captivate audiences with his creepy characters. He received a huge money deal to stick around with the company. Before fans new it, he was released and looking for new opportunities.

We now know just how much that big contract was worth. In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer compared the new WWE deal signed by Kevin Owens to that of Wyatt. In doing so, he revealed the terms of Wyatt’s final contract.

“The 2-3 million a year range is so blinding to people, they sign, not realizing it’s a 90 day contract that renews every day at WWE’s sole discretion. It’s how they `got’ Windham Rotunda.

He was going to get 3 mil, 3 year term. They went to a 5 year term. He held. They inched up towards 4. He jumped at it. But it’s still a 90 day contract. And with the higher number, it takes less and less to trigger the release.”

Rotunda drove a hard bargain. He was looking for a deal that fit his needs. Unfortunately, Wyatt signed in good faith. He wasn’t expecting the company to release him. He never finished out the deal.

Windham Rotunda has been quiet since his WWE release. He’s dropped a few hints as to his next move in wrestling on social media. There is no concrete news on his plans.

One thing is for sure. Fans would love to see the creative force that is Windham return to the squared circle. Time will tell if, when, and where that happens.
