Johnny Gargano looks like he’s on his way out the door at NXT. His wife, Candice LeRae, was there for the emotional scene as Gargano made what could be his final exit from the brand. Naturally, fans wondered about the status of LeRae’s contract.

Fightful Select has reported an update on her status with WWE. Candice’s deal as originally written is scheduled to expire in the Spring of 2022. She’s worked throughout her pregnancy, but is due in February and will almost certainly want to take maternity leave.

WWE hasn’t had much discussion internally about whether they will try and re-sign Candice LeRae. Typically, the company waits until much closer to when the contract expires. It sounds like she’s got at least a few months left.

As to the question of whether WWE will freeze her contract during her maternity leave, the answer is unknown. In fact, it hasn’t even been discussed. WWE has a history of pausing contracts when wrestlers are out with injuries and adding that time on to the back end of the deal.

Many have inquired about whether or not WWE is able to freeze LeRae’s contract due to inactivity while she’s on paid maternity leave. We’re told that subject hasn’t been broached internally.

It is a time of change in NXT. On last night’s show, fans most likely saw the final appearances of Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano. Soon, Candice LeRae will have to make a decision. With motherhood looming, a lot can change. The wrestlers who made the black and gold version of NXT famous are quickly dwindling in numbers.

Candice LeRae initially signed with WWE in 2018. She made various appearances throughout 2017, including wrestling in the Mae Young Classic. She’s got plenty of time to think about her next move and is probably far more concerned with becoming a mom. The time will eventually come when she will have to make a decision about the future of her career.

What do you think will be the next step in Candice LeRae’s career? Share your opinion in the comments!
