Last night’s NXT 2.0 may have marked the end of an era. As both wrestler’s contracts expire, Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly gave a curtain call to fans after the show went off the air. Both men were given beatdowns on their potential final NXT segments.

Kyle O’Reilly lost to Von Wagner in a steel cage match. Johnny Gargano gave an emotional speech about his uncertain future before being decimated by Grayson Waller. It certainly looked like two wrestlers who were going out on their backs.

After the show, the two came out to salute fans. They shared an emotional embrace. Candice LeRae and Shawn Michaels looked on, visibly moved by the moment. NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa also saluted the departing stars.

Johnny Gargano is the first ever NXT Triple Crown winner. He worked for the brand since 2015. He’s considered the heart and soul of the show.

Kyle O’Reilly came on with NXT in July of 2017. He quickly joined Adam Cole and tag team partner Bobby Fish to form the most dominant faction of the NXT black and gold days in The Undisputed Era.

If Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly go elsewhere, it marks the end of their run as two of the most beloved NXT talents. As it stands, it appears that will be the case. We wish Johnny and Kyle the best of luck, wherever they wind up!
