Kevin Owens remains one of the mainstays of WWE television ever since his debut in NXT back in 2014. He also made a name for himself in the independent circuit before making his way to WWE. It seems he opened up about his NXT return a couple of years ago.

For the past few months, the subject of Kevin Owens’ WWE contract became a widely discussed topic. Kevin Owens’ WWE contract is up far sooner than initially expected as it will expire early next year.

Before all that, Kevin Owens made his return to NXT during the 2019 edition of NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Owens was one of the members of Team Ciampa in a surprise reveal. Fans gave a huge pop when Owens came out.

While speaking to Rebellious Noise, Kevin Owens talked about his shocking NXT return in 2019 and how it was planned. Owens said that it was a no-brainer for him to go back there for that night.

“It was actually in 2019 believe it or not. I didn’t really need much convincing. All I needed was a phone call from Triple H. Triple H has been incredible for me, my career, and my life. Anytime you need anything from me, I’m there. He asked if I wanted to be part of WarGames. I didn’t even know what the match was, and I said, ‘Absolutely.’ I loved NXT. I spent a very short amount of time in NXT and I really loved my time there so it was a no-brainer for me to get the chance to go back, even if it was for one night.”

Kevin Owens will be facing off against Big E and Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship at WWE Day 1 on January 1st, 2022. It remains to be seen if Owens will win the match or not.
