On last night’s WWE Raw, Seth Rollins was attacked by a fan on the entranceway. As the superstar made his way to the ring for a promo, an irate fan jumped the rail and attempted to tackle Rollins. Security quickly closed in and the situation was fortunately defused before anybody was hurt.

We now know the identity of the fan. ESPN’s Marc Raimondi has reported that it the assault was carried out by a 24-year-old named Elisah Spencer. Spencer is charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs. The NYPD confirmed the news.

“Elisah Spencer, 24, has been charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs (disrupting live sporting event) for his attack on WWE wrestler Seth Rollins during the Raw television show Monday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, per the NYPD.”

Videos of the unscripted moment of chaos went viral overnight. Fans watching live were shocked to see the attack unfold on live television. Even Becky Lynch was spotted making sure Rollins was OK.

WWE released a statement in the aftermath of the attack. The company said they value the safety of their performers. They intend to prosecute Elisah Spencer to the fullest extent of the law.

The motivations for the attack are currently unknown. NYPD will fully investigate the incident. There’s no current publicly known court date for Spencer.
