Former WWE Superstar and current NJPW star Lio Rush made his debut at the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view earlier this year. Unfortunately for Lio Rush, his debut was short-lived as he suffered an AC injury in the Casino Battle Royale at the pay-per-view. Due to this, he had announced his retirement from pro wrestling back in June.

Lio Rush previously stated that he was content with what Rush had accomplished in his pro wrestling career. Eventually, Rush was able to make a full recovery and came back to pro wrestling. He is now signed with AEW and makes regular appearances on AEW television.

While speaking on a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho, Lio Rush talked about the difference between the backstage environments in WWE and AEW. Rush stated that the AEW locker room felt different from WWE despite being a similar environment.

“I felt comfortable around Tony Khan and I felt comfortable being in the locker room for the short time but I was in the locker room, at the pay-per-view and it felt different. It did not feel like WWE, even though I was seeing the same faces and the backstage environment looked the same and you know, I am still in the stadium, stuff like that. Despite that, there was something different about that. It made me feel like this was a second chance, it felt like a second opportunity for me.”

Lio Rush made his in-ring debut on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite as he won his match with Dante Martin. Rush is certainly happy working in AEW and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
