Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik has become a mainstay of the main roster and WWE television since making his debut back in 2019. Since then Dominik Mysterio has been featured extensively in various storylines, including program with Seth Rollins. It seems Rey Mysterio wished he and Dominik would have split up during the WWE Draft this year.

Rey Mysterio is also a veteran in the pro wrestling world and has worked with the best of the best the business has to offer. He had even requested John Cena to coach Dominik Mysterio.

The master of the 619 and his son were even Smackdown Tag Team Champions earlier this year and have always been together since Dominik debuted. Mysterio also made it clear he never wants father vs son storyline with Dominik.

While speaking to Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report, Rey Mysterio talked about the WWE Draft this year. Mysterio stated that it might have been better had he and his son been separated during the WWE Draft.

“That was definitely up to destiny. We did talk about [the possibility of being split up]. I said, ‘If we eventually get split up, then it was meant to be. You go your way, I’ll go mine.’ At the same time, it would’ve given my son some independence to grow on his own. Pretty much the story we were telling right before we got drafted to Raw. It was in the back of our minds, but it wasn’t anything we were worrying about. If anything, it probably would have been good. It’s a change.”

Rey Mysterio certainly has a high opinion of his son as he recently stated that Mysterio wants his son Dominik to be an even better wrestler than him. Whether or not that will happen is a matter of time, as it is not known whether Dominik Mysterio will compete in the pro wrestling world as long as his father has.
