Bryan Danielson jumped ship to AEW and made his debut at the All Out PPV in September. At Grand Slam, he fought Kenny Omega to a time limit draw in a non-title match.

Danielson had retired from wrestling in 2016 due to injuries he suffered from multiple concussions. This lead to him experiencing seizures and a brain lesion. He was then unexpectedly cleared by doctors in 2018 and made his return to the ring.

Danielson has now revealed that he hid some stuff from WWE about his health before he was forced to retire. Speaking to WDEL, he revealed what actually took place.

“I legitimately thought I was healthy and still think that I’m healthy. One of the reasons I was forced to retire was not because of the concussions, but because I lied about that. You have to understand, from WWE’s point of view, I had been wrestling for them for six years but then all of a sudden, they opened this Pandora’s box about ‘lying about his medical history and now we can’t trust him.’ A lot of that was building the trust back, but they were also legitimately looking after my health. I was going to see doctor after doctor and doing everything that I could to improve brain function to show, above and beyond, that my brain was healthy.”

Bryan Danielson added that it was also because of his love of wrestling that he felt like he wasn’t done yet. He felt like he needed to come back. He said that there’s a lot of research that’s yet to be done on concussions but when he was advised by the country’s top doctors that he’s clear to wrestle, he should be able to do that.
