SmackDown opens with Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville in the ring for the SmackDown Women’s Championship contract signing. Bianca Belair is in the ring, Sasha Banks is standing on the announce desk, and Becky Lynch is sitting on the ramp by a table.
Becky Lynch says the fans love her and who can blame them? She insults Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks and says neither of them can get the job done. Banks says the fans clearly missed her and she’s bigger than both of them combined. Bianca gets on the microphone and says Becky rode off her momentum at SummerSlam and she got lucky. Belair says she is the common denominator in all their business and neither of them want to get in the ring with her.
Belair throws a chair over the ropes at Becky, who tips her table and says she’s acting really big for someone she beat in 26 seconds. Banks attacks Bianca from behind, then Lynch shoves Banks aside and continues the assault. Becky and Sasha then brawl until Belair splashes them both in the corner, then lifts them up on her shoulders. Banks slides off but Bianca kicks her onto the table, then slams Lynch onto Banks through the table! Belair dances to end the segment.
Rey Mysterio is Dominik are backstage and Rey is asked why he wants to be King of the Ring. Rey says being King means you are the best and it would make him sick if Sami Zayn won that moniker. Dominik refuses to accompany Rey to the ring and he looks disappointed.
The match begins at a quick pace with Rey looking for a roll-up. Zayn catches Rey with a blue thunder bomb for a two-count. Rey is whipped to the ropes and hits a headscissors that sends Sami onto the middle rope and wants a 619 but Zayn rolls to the floor. Rey jumps over the ropes and catches Sami with a hurricanrana! Rey gets Zayn back into the ring and backs him into the corner for ten punches. Zayn throws Rey under the bottom rope and shoulder-first into the ring post. Rey rolls out and Dominik comes out to check on him.

Rey counters Sami with a headscissors, then looks for the 619 again but Sami counters him. Zayn removes the turnbuckle pad and throws it but Dominik grabs it and tries to put it back on. Rey dropkicks Sami and argues with Dominik, allowing Zayn to shove him into Dom, then hit a roll-up for the win!
We get a video hyping the debut of Hit Row, the group from NXT. They will be debuting after Crown Jewel with the rest of the draft picks.
Seth Rollins is interviewed backstage after a replay of him invading Edge’s house. Seth says everyone thinks he went too far but he was embarassed, mocked, and ridiculed by Edge, but he beat him in Madison Square Garden. People called him a monster but that’s fine. For the past few weeks he’s been the bigger man, challenged Edge to a final match, and Edge hasn’t answered him. He told Edge he was going to go to his house to get an answer and he did that, so he did nothing wrong. And he still doesn’t have an answer! He says he needs to find somebody who can do something about it.
The match begins and Toni blocks a kick, then hits a snapmare and slams her butt into Zelina’s face. Vega comes back with a Thesz press and punches, then a knee for a one-count. The Universal Champion, the tribal chief, the head of the table, the alleged second best in the world, Roman Reigns comes to the ring flanked by Paul Heyman and The Uso’s.
Roman Reigns asks the crowd to acknowledge him, then says Paul Heyman did as he was told and kept his cousins on SmackDown, so the fans need to acknowledge him also. Roman tells Paul he loves him, and that the Uso’s do as well. He says Heyman is the adviser to the Bloodline, the wiseman, and so he wants him to be wise and come clean. Roman asks Heyman to admit that he was responsible for Brock Lesnar’s free agency.
Heyman says he is in a terrible situation because no matter what he says he will sound like he’s spinning tales. He says he is loyalty to the tribal chief, he’s been with his family for 40 years. Roman lifts Paul’s face up to look in his eyes. Heyman says he has been accused of a lot and guilty of far more, but he’s never been accused of being stupid. And it would be stupid for him to try and trick the tribal chief. The supposed plan to side with Lesnar doesn’t even make sense. He says Lesnar just can’t stand the fact that the conquerer will be conquered at Crown Jewel.
Roman takes the microphone away and tells Heyman not to worry and says he will protect him, because he can. The fans chant for Lesnar but Heyman addresses the beast and says he outsmarted him this time. Heyman says, just like at WrestleMania 30, he told Lesnar that the Undertaker had met his match, well now the beast has met his. Roman Reigns will fight Brock as a tribal beast and walk out as the Universal Champion. That’s a spoiler and you can believe that.
Seth Rollins approaches Deville and Pearce. He asks if Edge is going to be here but Pearce says no. Seth says he wants a response to his challenge regardless. So he’ll go to the ring at the end of the show and wait for Edge, and if he doesn’t show it won’t end well and it will be on them. Seth hands Deville a picture of Edge and Beth Phoenix and says to give it back to Edge if they see him.
The bell rings and Carmella bails to get her new Leatherface mask. She gets in the ring and Liv tackles her to punch her. Liv hits a roll-up for two, then Carmella transitions into Code of Silence but Liv rips at her mask to get her off. Liv slams Carmella for a two-count as Mella got her foot on the rope. Carmella kicks Morgan and snaps her on the top rope, then hits a superkick for the win.
Kayla Braxton interviews Mace backstage. Mace says he doesn’t have any competition. His strength, aggression, and intelligence put him above everyone. He’s not here to compete, he’s here to annhilate.
Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss come to the ring for an episode of Happy Talk. Moss tells a terrible joke and they laugh hysterically. Kevin Owens stomps to the ring and meets Moss by the ring. Owens beats Moss into the barricade, then gets inside and attacks Corbin as well. The numbers get the better of him and they whips Owens hard into the buckles upside down. Moss slams Owens and laughs with Corbin.
Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are backstage and Naomi walks in. Naomi asks why she wasn’t in the Queen’s Crown tournament. Deville says she doesn’t deserve an explanation but the truth is she doesn’t deserve a spot. Naomi asks to be traded to RAW but Deville says no, she isn’t done with her yet. She has a match next week… against her.

Balor sends Cesaro into the ring post and he falls to the floor. Balor dives over the ropes onto Cesaro, then gets him back in for a shotgun dropkick into the buckles. Balor goes up top and lands the Coup de Grace for the win.
Becky Lynch is backstage with Pearce and Deville and she’s ranting about what Bianca Belair did earlier tonight. She says Banks and Belair have done nothing to earn this match, except for sneak attack her. Deville says they know how good she is, so she can prove it by signing the contract. Lynch signs the contract adn slams it into Adam Pearce’s crotch.
Seth Rollins comes to the ring and demands Edge come out and answer his challenge. Edge doesn’t appear and Seth keeps asking, telling him to name the time or place, even the stipulation if he wants. Rollins asks what happened to the Rated R Superstar, then starts laughing and says he ended him in Madison Square Garden. Rollins says he will take Edge’s silence as an admission that he is better in every conceivable way. Seth says he’s disappointed, he didn’t think things would go this way. And Edge is disappointing his fans and family also.
A black SUV appears backstage and out steps Edge! Metalingus hits and Edge comes running to the ring. Seth grabs a chair but Edge spears him! Rollins rolls outside and Edge spears him over the announce desk. Edge tosses Rollins into the steel steps, then into the ring post. Edge uses the headset and chokes Seth, then puts him in the ring and takes the rung of a steel chair. Edge looks to put the crossface on Seth but Rollins elbows him and runs away. Edge gets the microphone and shouts “you, me, Hell In A Cell!”
