Why Kenny Omega Ranked Above Roman Reigns On PWI Top 500 List

Kenny Omega is currently the AAA Mega Champion and also the AEW World Champion. He remains booked as one of the best champions in recent memory and his high work rate speaks for itself. 

Kenny Omega made a name for himself with his incredible matches against the likes of Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito in NJPW and is regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world right now.

Omega is also very passionate when it comes to his love for pro wrestling but he is also outspoken, so Omega is never afraid to speak his mind when the time comes. He was also ranked #1 on PWI’s Top 500 list while Roman Reigns was ranked #2.

While speaking on the Talk is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho explained why Kenny Omega was ranked above Roman Reigns. It came down to Omega being a champion on multiple brands and also had better matches than Reigns.

“I don’t think Roman had as many great matches as Kenny did. Just by proxy of what WWE is and what AEW is and like you said, combine that with what he is doing in Mexico and The Impact stuff. And that’s kind of Kenny’s gimmick. And Roman might have a little bit more on the character department where Kenny has really pulled that up as well with Don Callis. So to me, I think you picked it right. Kenny is number one and I think Roman is number two.”

Kenny Omega recently stated that Roman Reigns could have easily been #1 in the PWI 500 list as well. We wonder if Omega and Reigns will ever cross paths somewhere down the line.
