WWE had plans to call Bronson Reed up to the main roster, but then he was released. The former NXT North American Champion worked dark matches prior to main roster events and Vince McMahon seemed to have something for him. That didn’t come to pass despite him signing a contract extension.

Reed spoke out about his visa issues after his WWE release. He needs to clear up those problems before he can work anywhere else. If WWE kept him around then he would have been worry-free in that regard for, at least, three years.

While speaking to Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Jonah Rock revealed that he actually inked a new extension with WWE just prior to his release. He expected that the next three years of his career were planned out, but plans can always change in WWE.

I started at the start of 2019 on a 3 year deal. Only at the start of this year I signed a new 3 year deal. I was blindsided that halfway through the year that I was released. Also with where I was placed in the card and how I was utilized, I didn’t think it was coming.

WWE cut a few surprising members from their roster in recent memory, including Bray Wyatt, Bobby Fish and others. Bronson Reed’s release certainly caught a lot of fans off-guard.

We’ll have to see what’s next for Jonah Rock after his WWE release. He is still looking for a company who will vouch for him. Hopefully, that search doesn’t take him long.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
