WWE released a dozen NXT Superstars and one referee from the black and gold brand on Friday night. Those firings also came with at least one instance of the company axing plans on the main roster as well.

During the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Andrew Zarian revealed a very interesting note about Bronson Reed when his name came up. Although he was released from his NXT deal, WWE already had plans for the Colossus on the main roster.

Oh, he was getting called up, they had plans already.

Reed received a few dark matches prior to RAW and SmackDown, and he was getting a good look for a call-up. Apparently, the company already had plans for him, but those are obviously out the window now.

We’ll have to see what happens in the weeks to come, but the NXT releases are not over. The company is cleaning house to bring in younger talent, because they want to turn NXT back into more of a developmental brand like it once was. Bronson Reed might go back to his “Jonah Rock” name and prove to WWE that they made a big mistake by letting him go.
