Brian Cage made headlines as his wife complained about his spot in AEW. He was also featured in the Chris Kanyon episode of Dark Side of the Ring, but he did not work a planned indie date last Saturday. This is leading some to believe he’s out of action.

Cage was supposed to work at the Battleground Wrestling event at the 2300 Arena in Philly last week. He was supposed to wrestle Buddy Matthews, the former Buddy Murphy. However, Cage didn’t make the show to wrestle Murphy in his first post-WWE match.

It was stated that Cage’s knees were flaring up after he had a recent stem cell treatment according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Hopefully, this issue won’t keep Cage out of action for long.

JC Navarro filled in for The Machine at the event, but that didn’t keep fans from missing the former FTW Champion’s presence.

Buddy Matthews still called out Brian Cage during the event for no-showing. This seemed to build toward a future match when Cage can make the show. We will have to see if this knee issue leads to more time out of action.

Brian Cage wasn’t booked for AEW Grand Slam, but he also didn’t compete in any non-advertised matches. Cage’s last match was September 1st against Powerhouse Hobbs.
