Bryan Danielson bid WWE farewell after his contract expired. Then he arrived in AEW and immediately found himself in feud with Kenny Omega. His quest for an in-ring return is well-documented, and WWE didn’t make things any easier for him.

While speaking to Moose & Maggie, Bryan Danielson brought up how he was “forced to retire” by WWE. That time away from the ring consisted of Bryan Danielson trying time and time again to get medically cleared. All that hard work finally paid off, but WWE still had a hard time trusting his body.

“When I was kind of forced to retire, it was more based out of, like, because I lied to them – that’s a good lesson to a lot of people, when you’re talking your medical history, be very honest, because some things were uncovered. (They said), ‘Wait a second. It’s not that we don’t think you can wrestle. We can’t trust you anymore with your body.’”

“Proving things is focused on other people. I’m not interested in that. I feel like I’ve proven to everybody that I’m pretty good at what I do…. I see these next three years as kind of my last as a full-time wrestler… In my mind, it’s not like I’m tapering off – this is the climax of my career.”

Bryan Danielson has a lot to prove in AEW, but that doesn’t guarantee that he will beat Kenny Omega. Many fans could picture Danielson defeating The Cleaner in that non-title match at Grand Slam only to set up a much larger match later on with the AEW World Title on the line.
