Ricky Starks’ raw talent as a pro wrestler is undeniable and has a bright future ahead of him in AEW. He is currently the FTW Champion and is one of the mainstays of AEW television. He is also very outspoken when it comes to the pro wrestling product.

He is also is constantly compared to The Rock, fact which surprises him. Especially when it comes to the way he dresses and his mannerisms and promo skills. The comparisons are certainly plausible according to many.

Ricky Starks recently stated that he considers himself homegrown AEW talent and not NWA, which led to a lot of discussion among fans.

While speaking to WrestleTalk, Ricky Starks explained why he considers himself a homegrown AEW talent. It all came down to the level of growth and success that he achieved in AEW that made him consider himself a homegrown AEW talent.

“I do consider myself AEW homegrown. I’m not saying I’m discrediting the stuff I did in the past. NWA was a great time for me and I do value it and cherish it and I think it did help me out. But at the same token, I didn’t get the same type of success and improvement and growth, that I had in AEW so a lot of people are yelling and angry that I seemingly crapped on NWA but that wasn’t it. The point of it is that in AEW I have had my most success, I’ve had my most growth, I’ve had boundless opportunities to do what I want to do ultimately. And you could argue that I was popular from NWA but I don’t think I was, I don’t think everyone knew who I was as compared to AEW.”

Ricky Starks is currently feuding with Brian Cage and Starks also made it clear that he is open to squaring off against CM Punk in AEW as well. We will have to wait and see when Starks and Punk will cross paths.
