Chavo Guerrero Jr showed up in AEW to accompany Andrade El Idolo to the ring, but that union didn’t last long at all. The former NXT Champion kicked Chavo to the wayside, and it was violent affair. Some thought this opened up a door for Ric Flair’s AEW arrival, but there was another reason for Chavo’s television departure.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Chavo’s gig on Young Rock caused him to take off from AEW. He is the pro wrestling stunt coordinator on the show and the NBC series is about to start shooting its second season.

The reason for the angle on Rampage where Chavo Guerrero was turned on by Andrade and then beaten down by Penta & Fenix which looked like a character blow-off is that Chavo works as the wrestling coordinator for the TV show “Young Rock” and they are filming the second season of the show now. In an interesting note, the showrunner for “Young Rock” is the sister of Nick Khan.

Chavo Guerrero Jr also worked on GLOW to coordinate that show’s stunts. It seems that Chavo has a pretty nice resume in Hollywood when it comes to arranging pro wrestling matches on television programming. We’ll have to see if what happens in the meantime, but it was also noted that Chavo “is expected back in AEW” once Young Rock season two wraps up filming.
