Matt Cardona appeared for AEW, but he had very short deal. That six-match agreement ran out and he was soon onto his next chapter. His time in AEW was short, but he isn’t closing the door on a return if they have something for him.

While speaking to Talk Is Jericho, Cardona opened up a bit about his time in AEW. He enjoyed himself, but the company already had a loaded roster at the time. That left the Broski without anything to really do.

“I loved it. It was super cool. Do I wish it was with people there? Sure, it is what it is. Everyone was super welcoming. It’s something I definitely needed.  Sometimes perception is reality. When people are like, ‘Oh my God. He got so good. He got in great shape.’ If you want to believe that, sure, but I was in the same shape I was in for years. AEW, it just didn’t work out at the time. There’s so many people there, and there just wasn’t anything for me at the time. No hard feelings, not to say I’ll never be there again, because I would love to be. Obviously, there’s no doubt AEW is the place to be.  It’s the talk of the wrestling business every single week. Timing is everything, and it wasn’t the right time.”

Cardona arrived in Impact Wrestling and that company was able to utilize him. We’ll have to see if he ever makes a return to AEW, because he still has close friends in the company. Right now it doesn’t seem like he’s looking back or waiting for a spot to open up.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
